Oh it feels good to be underway. Here is what I did today:

My Huxley is so cute and beautiful. I thought when I got a synthesizer my wife would have to start worrying, but no, now that I have a Reprap, its even worse.
Somebody needs some attention now... back to building I suppose!

Here it is! I finally got what I've been waiting for. I don't want to build it too quickly or the fun'll be over, but wait! That's when the fun is just beginning. I am going to rigorously make sure all the bits and pieces are there though just in case the lovely people at Reprappro forgot a nut or something. But they won't have, I have faith.

So I'll stop wasting my own precious time by blogging and start investing it in the future. See you when I have reached an obstacle.

Musings of a wannabe 3d printer

I have been coveting a 3d printer for some 5 or 6 years now, and recently I actually bought one, or paid for one at least. Originally the plan was to blog the construction and the technical tinkering until I was freely printing out objects I'd designed that morning.

The supposed 5-10 days for shipping has long since passed and I now on day 22 I am slowly losing the will to wait.

I have the tools, faithfully collected up until 12 days ago, when I felt certain a knock on my door would lead to a smile on my face. I have been faithfully designing objects in CAD and improving my skills in 3d modelling. I have faithfully bought magazines in the mean time that instruct me in how to build a 3d scanner, for when I want to copy physical objects. Faithful of late however, is only my dedication to passing the time in other ways; Talisker, Bruichladdich, rainy bike-rides. And now a Blog.

So here are some of the tools that I can't wait to use, notice my unopened SD card for stand-alone printing, and the desk vice in the middle: its really heavy.

And here's me, sporting my 5 stitches acquired in a football match against police, complete with protective specs.
